Northern Ireland turned on the style in this 4-1 thrashing. The Irish dominated the early stages and could have already been two goals ahead when Jimmy Quinn gave the Irish the lead after only five minutes. Northern Ireland had chance after chance before Steve Lomas finally made it 2-0 to Northern Ireland and the rout looked on after 25 minutes. Jimmy Quinn scored his second of the match, making it 3-0 to the Irish. Quinn could have recorded a hat trick prior half time but squandered a golden opportunity. Only few minutes into the second half, Ian Dowie made it 4-0 to Northern Ireland. They continued to dominate however against the run of play, Hasler scored an undeserved consolation goal for Liechtenstein and it finished 4-1 to Northern Ireland with them going top of the table.

Date Played – 15th November 1995

Ian Dowie gave Northern Ireland the lead on the half hour mark scoring a well taken penalty. O’Neill quickly made it 2-0 to the Irish only moments later as they were cruising. Ten minutes into the second half, Hunter made it 3-0 to Northern Ireland; however Schopp made it 3-1 only moments later. Gray scored Northern Ireland's fourth goal with 25 minutes remaining to make it 4-1. However, Stumpf made it 4-2 pulling another goal back for the Austrians. The Irish sealed victory as O’Neill made it 5-2 with ten minutes remaining. Austria pulled one goal back with eight minutes left through Wetl, however the Irish finished off the match as deserved 5-3 winners.
