John McClelland

John McClelland was a defender who was a key member of the Northern Ireland squad during the 1982 and 1986 World cups. Jim Platt

Platt was a solid goalkeeper who played in goal for Northern Ireland on 23 occasions. He would have been in goal more, if it was not for Pat Jennings occupying the position. Platt played his club football for Hartlepool, Cardiff City and Middlesbrough. He also enjoyed a short spell playing for his local club, Ballymena United.
Martin O’Neill
Caps - 64
O’Neill is one of Northern Irelands most famous ever football players and is now viewed also as a fantastic manager. He made 64 appearances for the Northern Ireland national football team between 1971 and 1984. He started his career off with Nottingham Forest, playing for the side between 1971 and 1981 and won the European Cup and the league championship with them. He played for Norwich City between 1982 and 1983 and finished his career off playing for Notts County between 1983 and 1985.
Jimmy Nicholl

At his right back position, Nicholl won a staggering 73 caps representing his country, making his international debut in a match against Israel in March 1976. His final appearances for his nation came in the 1986 world cup finals in a match against Brazil. He played his domestic football for Manchester untied between 1974 and 1983, Sunderland, Dunfermline Athletic and Rangers FC. |
