Sammy Nelson
Caps – 51

Nelson made his international debut for Northern Ireland in the year 1980 and went on to make 51 appearances for his county, including two matches during the 1982 world cup finals. Nelson played his club football with Arsenal, making his debut in the year 1969; he later on played for Brighton and Hove Albion between 1982 and 1983.

Pat Jennings
Caps - 119

Jennings is Northern Ireland’s most capped ever football player, making 119 appearances in goal for his country, at one point it was the world record. He played in two world cups during his time in goal for the Irish, during the 1982 and 1986 World cup finals. He spent 13 years in goal for Tottenham before moving on to play for local rivals, Arsenal. He helped Arsenal reach three consecutive FA Cup finals, 1978, 1979, and 1980.

Chris Nicholl
Caps – 51

Nicholl is one of the finest ever defenders to have played for Northern Ireland. He made his debut for Northern Ireland in the year 1974 and final appearance in 1983. In total, he made 51 appearances for the Northern Ireland national football team. He played his domestic football for various clubs including, Halifax Town, Luton Town and Aston Villa. He captained Aston Villa in the league cup final of 1977, a match they went on to win after two replays.

Gerry Armstrong
Caps – 63

At one point, Gerry Armstrong was the all time top ever goal scorer of Northern Ireland with 12 goals. He is most notable for scoring three goals during the 1982 world cup finals, helping Northern Ireland reach the knock out phase. Armstrong started his career off at White Hart lane in 1976, spending four season with Spurs before moving on to play for Watford in 1980. He left Watford in 1983, joining Real Mallorca for two years. He later on endured spells playing for WBA, Chesterfield and Brighton.
