Alf McMichael
Caps – 40

McMichael is considered by many as being one of Northern Irelands finest ever defenders. He commenced his football career playing for local side, Linfield before signing for Newcastle United in the year 1949, making 431 appearances from the club during his 13 years period there, leaving in 1962. He was a key member of the Newcastle team that won the 1952 FA Cup and has made 40 appearances for the Northern Ireland national football team.

Billy Gillespie
Caps - 25

Gillespie is Northern Ireland's second top goal scorer with 13 goals in only 25 appearances for his nation. He was a prolific centre forward while playing his domestic football with Manchester City between 1896 and 1904, playing 217 times, scoring an incredible 125 goals for the club.

Danny Blanchflower
Caps - 56

Blanchflower is arguably the finest ever player to have played for Northern Ireland. He is one of the greatest right half’s ever to play football and attributed fine passing skills. Between 1949 and 1963 he played for Northern Ireland, in total earning 56 caps for his country, making an appearance in the 1958 world cup finals, captaining his nation. He started his domestic club football with Glentoran before playing for Aston Villa and then Tottenham Hotspur, helping Spurs win the league title of the 1960 – 1961 season.

Jimmy McIlroy
Caps - 51

Jimmy McIlroy made a total of 51 appearances for Northern Ireland and scored 10 goals during his time representing the country between 1951 and 1962. He spent the majority of his career playing for Burnely between 1950 and 1962 before moving on to play Stoke City, leaving the club in 1965. He finished his playing career at Oldham Athletic, playing between 1965 and 1967.
